Following the success of past years, we at TEN are excited to be starting the 2018 Calendar a little differently by bringing an event to Perth, something we have never done before.

The first event of 2018 is a site visit to the Kanthal plant in Perth. Kanthal is the heating technology sub brand of the Global Sandvik Group – one of the largest engineering companies in the world with 36,000 employees. The Kanthal site in Perth is the home of Kanthal Globar Silicon Carbide heating elements, and is the only Kanthal plant in the world that produces heating elements made of Silicon Carbide.

Silicon Carbide is a near-diamond like material, and a semi-conductor. It can be alloyed to produce a conductive resistance material that heats up when an electrical current is passed through it. Kanthal Globar heating elements operate at temperatures up to 1625°C.

Unfortunatley we are limited to just 14 places on this event, due to the out of normal hours visiting time and the size of conference facilities. We appreciate that some will miss out on this opportunity due to the restricted spaces, but we are hoping to have further events in Perth in the near future.

PROGRAM OF EVENTS

5.30 – 6.30 – Meet & greet/Networking.

6.30 – 8.00 – Talk and in-depth tour of the plant.

8.00 – Depart at end of event (Flexible)

PARKING

Parking is available at the side and rear of the Kanthal Building, or across the road by Marks and Spencer Inveralmond.

The TEN is a new and exciting networking opportunity, which will aim to encompass all elements of the local Engineering Community, including: local and international business, education and the supporting functions. We hope to host Presentation Evenings, Site Visits, Open Door Weekends and Social Events. However, the success of this aim will be very much dependent on TEN members. As such, we hope that where possible, interested parties make every effort to support the initial launch event.
