The Sir Tom Farmer Story
2017’s events calendar has now closed….and in inspirational style, in the form of Sir Tom Farmer, the founder of Kwikfit
In previous years our guest speakers have included: Peter Hughes, ex-head of Scottish Engineering and Jim McColl MBE, CEO of Clyde Blowers.
This evening was set in the fantastically refurbished Royal Hotel, Forfar. The reception started, with members receiving a glass of Tayside’s own “Cairn’o’Mor” Elderflower fizz, followed by fantastic meals and service that the Royal Hotel can be proud of.
Sir Tom then delighted our members with his life story, from humble beginning’s in Leith, to his 1964 tyre retailing business. From Scotland to the U.S. Then his UK, Netherlands and 18 other country domination that we all know this amazingly successful entrepreneur for – KwikFit!
Sir Tom’s story of inspiration does not end there, Tom is now 77 and more recently started Farmer Autocare, which is growing today with branches throughout the UK. This, together with Sir Tom’s activities in encouraging young people through apprentice schemes and the like, show that this man sets the standard that entrepreneurial individual should be setting their sights on!
Another great night!
